Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. was founded in 1986, went public in 1995, and is one of the largest and most diversified television broadcasting companies in the country. Pro forma for the Tribune acquisition (before any related divestitures), the Company will own, operate and/or provide services to 233 television stations in 108 markets. The Company has multiple emerging networks as well as stations affiliated with all the major networks. Sinclair is a leading local news provider in the country and a producer of live sports content. Sinclair’s content is delivered via multiple platforms, including over-the-air, multi-channel video program distributors, and digital platforms. Sinclair is traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol SBGI.

The Project

Clearview was engaged in 2015 to be Sinclair’s IT audit outsource provider and continues in that role today.

How Clearview Gave Sinclair a Win

We performed our assessment over IT General Controls in 2015 on behalf of internal audit. We worked with their external auditors, a large global firm, and internal stakeholders to understand what was working and what wasn’t at the most basic level. Next, we led the effort to re-design processes and controls so they both reflected the actual activities performed by the business and met the needs of the auditors. This was a collaborative effort from start to finish and was successful because we created a solution that worked for both internal and external stakeholders. This success also supported the Director of Internal Audit in his goal of expanding activities beyond the SOX environment.
